Wooden O - A Handful of Pleasant Delites 1969

An obscure and rare record from this folk act led by James Harpham, (who plays the recorder, an ancient flute-like instrument) A Handful Of Pleasant Delites was originally released by Middle Earth in 1969 – the same label as Arcanum and Writing On The Wall – and featured an interesting blend of acoustic folk, baroque medleys, jazz improvisations and experimental music constantly shifting from pastoral atmospheres to urban neurosis.

Hi, surprised you had to explain what a recorder was - I would hope most people would know. It's widely used in Baroque music, and now and then in folk, even I think prog.

If you had Orff instruments in early school years you probably played a slightly modified descant (soprano) recorder. The same instrument used to be much used in elementarly schools in the States.

OK, enough of that, we'll see what this band sounds like. Never heard of them. Thanks for making it available!
